U.S. News & World Report Ranks Four Jefferson Parish Schools Among Louisiana's Top High Schools

U.S. News & World Report released its 2022 Best High Schools rankings and four high schools in Jefferson Parish Schools ranked among Louisiana’s 25 best. Patrick F. Taylor Academy is ranked No. 1 in Louisiana and joins Haynes Academy and Thomas Jefferson Academy in the state’s top six. Riverdale High ranked 23rd in the state and 8th in the New Orleans metro area.

The ranking includes nearly 24,000 public high schools throughout the country and measures how well those schools serve students from various social and economic backgrounds. The highest ranked schools in Jefferson Parish Schools are:

  • Patrick F. Taylor Science and Technology Academy ranked first in the state and 37th nationally.
  • Haynes Academy for Advanced Studies ranked third in the state and 162nd nationally.
  • Thomas Jefferson Academy for Advanced Studies ranked sixth in the state and 325th nationally.
  • Riverdale High ranked 23rd in the state and 8th in the New Orleans Metro Area.

The ranking focuses on six factors: college readiness, reading and math proficiency, reading and math performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth and graduation rates.
