Summer 2022 Learning Opportunities and Program Registration

Parents and Guardians,

Take advantage of the summer learning opportunties offered by the district to our students that range from career readiness programs to LEAP remediation and enrichment. Get a head start on a successful 22-23 academic school year. See the details below. 

High School Summer Programs: 

1. Jump Start Summers (Seating is limited – application posted to website on Tuesday @ 3PM) • This program is intended to offer an advanced opportunity for students to learn a skill to increase career  readiness. Programs offerings include: carpentry, lodging and management, EMR, digital media, graphic arts,  and Swift. Program availability varies by site location. 

• Session 1: June 16-July 8 

o JP Schools 9-12 grade students 

o Sites: East Jefferson High, Higgins High, Cuillier Career Center 

• Session 2: July 11-29 

o JP Schools rising 9th grade students 

o Sites: Cuillier Career Center, Jefferson Virtual High 

2. Summer Bridge (similar to summer school) 

• This program is a free learning opportunity designed to provide targeted high school students an opportunity to  retake a LEAP content course to earn Carnegie credit and graduate on time. Available to students who: o Enrolled in a JPS high school during the 2021-22 school year 

o Previously attempted but failed a LEAP content course 

o Met LEAP testing requirement for the category (for graduation) 

o Dates: June 16-July 8 

3. LEAP 2025 Remediation (forms available in Google classroom – see High School Programs section) • LEAP 2025 remediation and testing is for all re-testers (to meet LEAP testing requirements). • Dates: June 4 & 11 (Saturdays), June 13-17 

• Testing Window: June 20-24
