Olivia Taylor named WJHS Student of the Year

It is with Buc Pride that we congratulate Ms. Olivia Taylor, West Jefferson High School’s Student of the Year. Olivia embodies all of the qualities it takes to be a success. She is a well-rounded student whose academic success and extracurricular involvement is admired by the faculty, staff and students. 

Olivia wears many hats on and off campus. She is a member of the Student Council, Climate Club, Track and Field Team, and Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy. She also had the distinct honor of participating in the Jefferson Parish Schools’  Superintendent Student Leadership Council.

She has served as an officer in the following organizations of West Jefferson High School:

Flag Team- Co Captain and Captain

(Rising Star Award Recipient)

Key Club- President

Alpha Sigma Zeta- Vice President

National Honor Society- Parliamentarian

Olivia, an  Honor Roll student, was also a Posse Semi-Finalist for 2019-2020. She has also had perfect attendance. With all she does on campus, she still managed to work at a local restaurant. She volunteers within her community at a retirement home where she calls bingo and helps to plan special events. . 

This outstanding senior plans to attend Xavier University of Louisiana as a Pre-Med major and then Loma Linda Medical School to become a cardiovascular surgeon.
