Advanced Study Academy Applications Open Through July 2
Limited Seats Remain Available for Select Grades Including Pre-K4
Jefferson Parish students interested in a more advanced educational experience for the 2021-22 school year can apply for a limited number of unfilled seats in the district’s seven Advanced Study Academies. The summer application window is open now through Friday, July 2 at 5 p.m. This application window is intended only for anyone who did not apply during the fall or recently moved to Jefferson Parish.
“Seats at our Advanced Study Academies are some of the most in-demand placements within Jefferson Parish Schools. This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in a more advanced educational experience,” said Dr. James Gray, Superintendent for Jefferson Parish Schools. “In particular, we have several seats open in our high-quality pre-K4 program. Students who enroll in an Advanced Study Academy pre-K4 program have an easier transition to kindergarten and benefit from a strong early childhood education foundation.”
Advanced Study Academies are designed to challenge our most highly capable students with an accelerated curriculum. Advanced Study Academies employ a school-wide enrichment model, use project-based, hands-on instructional techniques and rank as some of the top performing public schools in the state.
To be eligible for Advanced Study Academy admissions, all students must meet age and residency requirements. Additionally, students entering grades 6-12 must meet a core GPA requirement of 2.5 for their previous two years in school. Students must also score in the 85th percentile or higher on the ASA admissions test.
As part of the public school system for Jefferson Parish, all Advanced Study Academies are tuition-free. Students will have access to transportation within their attendance zone, food services, enriching athletics and extracurricular activities, and one-to-one student computers. JP Schools strives to create a safe and nurturing educational environment where students are prepared for high school and beyond.
