To celebrate Black History Month, we recognized our Hispanic community in schools and their heritage by spotlighting them on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

Nedra Williams

Starting as a substitute in the district, Nedra Williams enjoyed Marrero Middle School students' eagerness to learn so she decided to officially become a paraprofessional. She has made strong connections with the community at the school over the past 6 years and she strives to help her students remember that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.

To recognize black history month, she would love to see others invested in not just black history but other heritages as well after this month ends so we can learn from each other.

Zion Lee

Zion Lee grew up never enjoying math in school, but since being at Marrero Middle School, his teachers have helped him love the subject. He is a hard worker and is always participating in class. When he grows up he hopes to one day become an engineer and be successful.

As part of Black History Month, Zion expresses how important this month is because it’s a chance for others to see historical figures who have done great things for society.
