What is your approach to classroom management?

  • “I’m a firm believer in respect in the classroom. I treat them as young adults and I respect them just as they should respect me. I try to talk to them as young adults to help me get my point across and they do appreciate that tactic more.”

Is there a quote or saying you live by?

  • “It’s a quote I recently read that resonated with me. It says something like ‘Do not throw away years of hard work on an emotional decision.’ Sometimes we have to remember that and I think our students should know that quote because they could have avoided situations if they knew how to control their emotions more."

If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

  • “So, I’m Mexican and there's a sandwich called torta de milanesa. That is my favorite food in the world and the closest place where I can find a good one is in Houston.”

Have you ever completed anything on your bucket list?

  • “Yes! I love music and I got to see my favorite band in concert. I loved every second of it.”

What is your favorite subject in school?

  • “Math is my favorite. My mom was an accountant and it came very naturally to me. My mom would always use her fingers when doing math so growing up when I did math in school, I always had a hard time showing my work on paper because I always did it in my head.”
