Mask Update June 3, 2021
JP Schools Family,
In response to Governor Edwards announcement on May 25 that lifted the statewide school mask mandate, wearing of masks for adults and students will be optional at campuses and sites in Jefferson Parish Schools beginning June 4. Those who have not been vaccinated or feel more comfortable wearing masks are strongly encouraged to continue wearing masks. With the decrease in COVID-19 cases and the broad availability of vaccinations for anyone over 12 years of age, this is a sign of a return to more normal times.
Per state guidelines, masks are still required on school buses and temperature checks will continue to be conducted on campuses and sites through June 30th. These protocols apply to all Jefferson Parish Schools summer programming and professional development sessions and are subject to change based on the public health situation and federal, state and local guidance.
We will continue to support protocols that create safe and healthy working and learning environments. Vaccinations remain an essential piece to keeping our schools and community safe, and we encourage everyone who is eligible to seek out vaccination opportunities.
