JP Schools Hosts Parent Computer Literacy Workshops

Computer Workshops

 

With the increased use of technology to support student learning, Jefferson Parish Schools will offer six computer literacy workshops for parents in partnership with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Classes will be offered in both English and Spanish, and in a socially distant setting.

The computer literacy workshops will cover how to use Chromebooks, smartphone integration, Google Classroom, Google Meet, creating a Gmail account, and other apps to help students participating in virtual and traditional learning. Computers will be provided by the district for use during the training sessions.

East Bank Workshops:

The below workshops will take place from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Emenes Building, 822 South Clearview Pkwy. in Elmwood.

  • Tuesday, Nov. 10: Intro to Chromebooks, How to get to JPS Website, Icons, GMail
  • Tuesday, Nov. 17: Intro to Google Classroom (Classes, Link to Login), Clever & Google Meet 
  • Tuesday, Dec. 1: Intro to Google Slides, Docs, Google Forms (Kami/PDF)

West Bank Workshops:

The below workshops will take place from 5-6:30 p.m. at Jefferson Parish Schools Administration Building, 501 Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey.

  • Thursday, Nov. 12: Intro to Chromebooks, How to get to JPS Website, Icons, GMail
  • Thursday, Nov. 19: Intro to Google Classroom (Classes, Link to Login), Clever & Google Meet 
  • Thursday, Dec. 3: Intro to Google Slides, Docs, Google Forms (Kami/PDF)

Registration:

The computer literacy resources are offered for free to caretakers with a child currently enrolled in Jefferson Parish Schools. To register, please call 504-349-7776 or 504-305-5901 or visit one of the links below. Capacity is limited, and parents are required to register in advance. Parents have the flexibility of registering for just one session or all three sessions.
