Superintendent's Message: September 25, 2020
Dear JP Schools Family,
This week we began transitioning our schools into Phase 3. It has been a welcome sight to see more students back on campus. Thank you for your diligence and commitment to ensuring your school continues to implement and model our health and safety protocols. These measures will continue to result in a safe environment for our students, our employees and our families.
Now that we’ve gotten our protocols down and found a rhythm with our new school routines, it’s important that we keep our attention on student learning. We will keep our expectations high, meet our students where they are, and tailor our instruction to help every student make progress.
Our students, families and educators have done an incredible job adjusting to technology and the various instructional models this year. We are doing things this year that we haven’t before, and we are using technology to enhance teaching and learning. These shifts have come with some challenges, and we must continue to have high expectations and hold true to the policies and procedures we have in place to keep our students and employees safe. Our policies exist to help and protect us all.
I also want to remind all our families that the application window for our Advanced Study Academies will be open from Monday, Sept. 28, at 8 a.m. until Friday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. For more information on the application process, please visit jpschools.org/asa.
When I look around, I’m proud of the work that we’re doing to advance all students. We truly are getting better every day. The strong foundation we’ve set for the year will keep us on track to make Jefferson Parish Schools one of the top-performing districts in the state.
Regards,
Dr. James Gray
