See Which Jefferson Parish Schools Were Named Top Gains & Equity Honorees
Over a third of the schools in Jefferson Parish Schools were recognized for moving students forward when the Louisiana Department of Education released the 2019 school and district report cards.
The LDOE named 26 JP schools Top Gains and 13 were recognized as Equity Honorees. Schools earn Top Gains recognition for showing exceptional student growth. Schools are named an Equity Honoree when they perform in the 90th percentile or above for students with disabilities, economically disadvantaged students, and/or English learners.
This recognition comes during a year when student growth was a common theme on district and school report cards. JP Schools increased its District Performance Score for the first time in four years. When graded solely on growth, JP Schools earned a B letter grade. Overall, the district earned a C. Seven schools improved their letter grade and another eight schools improved their performance score by five points or higher.
The improved DPS marks the latest state data showing progress in JP Schools. The district’s most recent graduation rate improved by 1.6% and it led the state in Advanced Placement growth. JP Schools students also outpaced the state for Mastery rate increase.
