JP Schools Family,

 

Our students have grown academically these past two years, and this growth is only possible because of the commitment and collaboration of our families, employees, community, and School Board. We can accomplish anything by working together, and one way we will continue to be successful is with authentic and continuous engagement with our stakeholders. Two-way communication helps us be better for our students. 

 

I am excited to continue engaging with our employees, families, and community members this school year. This month, we kicked off our five Superintendent Councils for students, families, teachers, principals, and special education. We continued our Discovery Days and this week, we’re hosting our first Listen & Learn Town Hall at Boudreaux Elementary. These events give us the opportunity to hear about what’s working and what’s not, address concerns, and learn about how we can continue to grow. 

 

We also have a lot to celebrate this month. October is National Principals Month, so I would like to recognize our principals for their hard work and dedication. The leadership our principals have demonstrated over the past two years allowed us to be one of only 20 districts that grew the first year of the pandemic and one of only 19 districts that showed 3% growth in student proficiency last year. October is also a Hispanic Heritage Month, and with 37% of our students being Hispanic, it’s important to recognize the diversity of our student population and celebrate the many cultures we have in our schools.

 

I believe that Jefferson Parish Schools can be the best urban district in the state and the country. This will only be possible if we continue to build on the strong foundation we’ve set and stay focused on doing what’s best for students.
