Jefferson Parish Schools Recognizes Laitram as Latest "The 128" Award Winner
Jefferson Parish Schools has recognized a partnership that spreads across the district and is preparing students to enter high wage and high skilled careers.
JP Schools has selected Laitram as the latest honoree of “The 128” award. This honor recognizes community groups for their efforts to positively support the system and impact children during the 128 hours a week kids are away from school.
“We’re grateful for our relationship with Laitram and value the work they are doing for our students, teachers, and schools,” said JP Schools Superintendent Dr. Cade Brumley. “The training and equipment they provide makes sure our kids graduate ready to enter the workforce.”
Laitram has been invaluable to the JP Schools Career and Technical Education program. They donated and helped deliver machine shop equipment to Cuillier Career Center and also helped train students and teachers. Outside of their work at Cuillier, they donate equipment to other schools, provide internships to students, and host tours for teachers and students at their facilities.
Laitram also participates in job fairs, serves on the JP Schools Career and Technical Education Counsel, and the Cuillier Career Center Counsel. The councils help JP Schools maintain industry standards, target qualities business are looking for in potential employees, and help solve problems.
“The 128” recognizes community partners for their efforts to positively support JP Schools and impact children during the 128 hours a week kids are not in school. “The 128” was developed during Dr. Brumley’s 100-day entry plan. Past “The 128” winners are Dawn Busters Kiwanis, Pastor J. Nelson Brown, and Walker Motor Corporation.
