Twenty-One Jefferson Parish Schools Students Named National Merit Semifinalists
Twenty-one students in Jefferson Parish Schools have been named Semifinalists in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Haynes Academy led the way in JP Schools with 11 National Merit Semifinalists. Six students from Patrick F. Taylor Academy earned the honor. Thomas Jefferson High had a school-record four students named Semifinalists.
“Congratulations to each of these students, their families, and their schools for achieving this national recognition,” said JP Schools Superintendent Dr. Cade Brumley. “These Jefferson Parish students represent some of the best in our district, our state, and our nation.”
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 65th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million offered next spring.
