Dr. Gray's May Jefferson Journal Message
JP Schools Family,
Congratulations to the Class of 2023! This graduation season highlighted our graduates who have worked hard during their high school careers. Our seniors have been through a lot these last three years. They ended their freshmen year abruptly in March 2020, learned virtually or six feet apart their sophomore year, and had Hurricane Ida disrupt their junior year. Through it all, they have persevered and relied on their friends, families, teachers, coaches, and community members to support them. Whether they are going off to college, the military, or the workforce, I am so proud of our graduates and know they will change the world for the better. If you didn’t attend any of the graduation ceremonies, you can watch them on Channel 8 and see highlights from our photos below.
This month we also celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week. Our teachers are amazing and always go above and beyond in so many ways. Every day they make a positive impact on our students and our community. See below the video message that is airing on Cox all month long. We also celebrated School Nurses Day, School Communicators Day, and Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.
As a community, we’re continuing to prepare for a successful 2023-2024 school year. Our school and district leaders are hard at work to implement the approved 2023 Infrastructure and Efficiency Plan. We are tirelessly working towards the goal because our students and our families deserve nothing less. The plan was created in the best interests of every child in JP Schools. It will put kids in better facilities, protect educator jobs, stabilize our financial future, and allow us to continue the progress we’ve worked hard to create. Thank you for your continued support and unwavering commitment to our students.
