What is the best advice you’ve been given about teaching?
-
“My mentor and former teacher told me to build the relationship first. If you build relationships with them, they will listen to you more in the classroom.”
If you were given a superlative in school, what would it be?
-
“I was given several of them when I was in school. I was named best dressed and most athletic because I played tennis, basketball, and softball. I went on a basketball scholarship to college and now I help the basketball team at Ehret whenever I can.”
What is your spirit animal and why?
-
“I would have to say a dolphin because I love water and they are highly intelligent.”
If you could grow up in any decade, which one would it be and why?
-
“I would say the Harlem Renaissance, which is the 1920’s. It was full of culture and art, and I love the explosion of the minority voice. Aside from the negative, it would be amazing sitting in a jazz club with creative people.”
Are you an introvert or extravert?
-
“By nature, I’m an introvert. I like being by myself, but my career makes me an extravert.”
