Lale L. Geer Sworn in as Interim Superintendent
In front of family, coworkers, and friends, Lale L. Geer was sworn in today as interim Superintendent of Jefferson Parish Schools. This is the second time Mr. Geer will serve in the district's top spot. Geer was also the interim superintendent in the spring of 2018 during the superintendent transition from Isaac Joseph to Dr. Brumley.
"I am honored and humbled to be sworn in as the interim superintendent for the district I have loved and served for 30 years," said Mr. Geer. "As interim, it will be my responsibility to ready the district for a safe opening of the year and to provide a smooth transition for our new superintendent."
Along with serving in the district's top spot until a new superintendent is named, Geer will continue his role as the district's Chief Operations Officer. The Jefferson Parish School Board selected Geer for the acting role during its meeting on June 3rd. He takes over for Dr. Cade Brumley who became the State Superintendent.
As Chief Operations Officer, Geer oversees all operations management and planning within JP Schools. This includes the district’s emergency management, facilities and maintenance, food services, technology, and transportation departments. Geer began his career with the district in 1990, and has served as an elementary and middle school teacher, middle school dean, elementary principal, high school principal, director of transportation, assistant superintendent of operations, and interim superintendent. He has a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of New Orleans.
