Hurricane Zeta Update 11/3
JP Schools Family,
Our operations team, plant staff, cafeteria staff and bus drivers have been working diligently to ensure we are prepared to welcome students and employees back to school. It has been a team effort, and we are proud of the way our JP Schools family has come together to recover from the aftermath of Hurricane Zeta.
We are fortunate that power and the internet have been restored at all but three of our schools. Because of this, we will be able to safely reopen Jefferson Parish Schools on Wednesday, November 4, with the exception of Grand Isle and possibly Gretna Middle and Collins Elementary. Grand Isle families and employees will hear from their principal about next steps once further information regarding power restoration is available. Gretna Middle and Collins Elementary are currently without power and internet but we hope to have both schools restored today. We will notify the employees and families at those two schools later this afternoon about whether school will reopen tomorrow either in-person or if it will be a remote learning day.
As a reminder, Wednesday, November 4 is an “A” day on the schedule for our 9-12th grade hybrid students.
Schools are closed today because of Election Day, so we want to take this opportunity to encourage everyone who is eligible to get out and “Geaux Vote.” Thank you for your patience and support, and we look forward to seeing our students and employees back at school tomorrow.
