March is Music in Our Schools Month

All month long on all of our social media platforms, JP Schools bands were recognized alongside their teachers, for Music in Our Schools Month. We are so grateful for our educators who teach our kids lifelong skills and a love for music.

Adams Middle School

For #musicinourschoolmonth , we want to highlight J. Q. Adams Middle School Pathfinder Band which consists of 157 members, led by band director Nicole Lawnicki. The Adams Band gives three concerts a year in addition to participating in other community events. Students are encouraged to be self-driven, curious, and to be themselves. #MIOSM

West Jefferson High School

The West Jefferson High School Marching Buccaneers under the leadership of Eddie Williams, Jr. has more than doubled the West Jeff band within the last year. Additionally, the band is learning other music styles such as experience marching, symphonic jazz, and brass band music.

Every year the Bruin Band participates in various honorable performances such as District Honor Concert and Jazz Ensembles, Loyola Wind Ensemble and Bourgeois Honor Band, and Southeastern University Concert Honor Band. The Bruin Band has also represented Kenner and Greater New Orleans in the Rose Bowl Parades, Macys’ Day Performance, and many Mardi Gras performances.

Jefferson School

Andrea Garces leads the Jaguar Band in multiple performances a year including a Winter and Spring concert, participating in pep rallies, sports games, and other school performances.
