District 9: Steven Guitterrez

Steven Guitterrez is a lifelong educator, having served over 25 years as a principal, assistant principal, teacher, and coach. Through his experience in public education, he has worked with students, staff, and families to provide vast educational opportunities for students to flourish, and brings this understanding to serve our Jefferson Parish community. As a lifelong educator, his focus is on instilling a love of learning, encouraging compassion and empathy in our students, and providing stimulating curricular opportunities for students while also affording the supports so that students can reach higher levels of achievement.

He graduated from the University of New Orleans, earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Secondary Education with a focus in Biology and General Science and a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration. Early in his career, Steven also served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He has also served in the community as a volunteer with the Jefferson Parish and Kenner Recreation Departments.

Steven was born and raised in Jefferson Parish. He and his wife, Monique, have three children and live in Kenner. As a board member, he is dedicated to listening to all stakeholders and “building bridges” to unite our community.
