District 2: Ricky Johnson

Ricky Johnson is a lifelong resident of Jefferson and a product of the Jefferson Parish Public School System. Johnson attended Elm Grove Elementary (B.A. St. Ville), Helen Cox Middle, and graduated from West Jefferson High School in 1975. He attended the University of New Orleans and received a bachelor of theology degree from Union Baptist Theological Seminary. Johnson is the pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Harvey. He leads a successful boys program called Making Our Boys Better (MOBB) in the Harvey community.

As a school board member, Johnson will advocate for fairness and equality for students, parents, teachers, and support personnel. He will advocate for increased academic proficiency in reading, writing, math, and critical thinking in order to help Jefferson Parish students compete nationally and internationally. Finally, he will advocate for better efficiency on teacher/pupil ratios.
