District 7: Ralph Brandt
Ralph Brandt has been a resident of River Ridge, Jefferson Parish, for over 50 years, and has been active in leadership roles in a variety of civic, community, and church organizations in the metropolitan New Orleans area. After graduating from De la Salle High School, he attended Louisiana State University, and received a BBA in Marketing, from Loyola University. He pursued graduate studies and received his Juris Doctor from Loyola University School of Law. While attending Loyola, Ralph served as a substitute teacher in the Jefferson Parish school system. In 2010, he was selected as De la Salle High School, Alumnus of the Year.
Ralph worked as an Assistant District Attorney for almost 30 years before retiring in 2018. During his employment with the District Attorney’s office, Ralph was the lead attorney in many divisions within the office. Most of his career was spent as the Chief of the Juvenile Division, where he learned about significant educational deficiencies, within the juvenile delinquent population. Awareness of these deficiencies prompted him to concentrate and work in the areas of special education and early childhood education. One particular academic area of interest was students’ reading abilities. An additional responsibility for Ralph was teaching recruits, and police officers at the New Orleans Police Academy. In terms of previous school board experience, Ralph served on the Archdiocesan School Board for almost fourteen years, including several years as President.
His vision for Jefferson Parish Schools is focusing on providing the best quality of education possible for all students and to help all students develop the skills necessary for life long success.
