District 3: Kriss Fairbairn Fortunato

Kriss Fairbairn Fortunato has been in the public eye for more than 40 years. Her commitment to public service extends across the local and state government levels, as well as in federal law enforcement, having served in leadership and management positions with a concentration on community, public and media relations, and most recently, Emergency Management. 

She dedicated nearly 30 years to her community as a television news anchor and reporter keeping us informed about some of the biggest stories we experienced in our region and in our nation’s history. Kriss continued to answer the calling to public service, having also devoted time in the classroom as a substitute teacher. Her entire educational career has been in the public school system, from Kindergarten to college, graduating from Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelors Degree in Communications.
 
She is married to Colonel John Fortunato (Retired, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office). Johnny and Kriss have three children, nine grandchildren and two dogs.
