District 5: Derrick Shepherd

Derrick Shepherd’s biography has a constant theme with the number three. He attended three high schools: John Ehret, L.W. Higgins and West Jefferson. After high school, his mother and father signed him up into the military where he served three branches: the Army, Navy and Marine Corp (OH RA). After this, Derrick attended three colleges: University of New Orleans, Southern University of New Orleans and Loyola Law School of New Orleans (yes, he loves New Orleans). His father is the late Eddie Lee Shepherd, and his mother is Margie Richardson. Together they had three children: Tyrone, Derrick and Robin.
 
As a lifelong resident of Marrero, Derrick is laser-focused on the needs of District 5 and the school system as a whole. Derrick’s priorities are school safety, curriculum studies and parental involvement.
