Summer Bridge Literacy Camp

Summer Bridge Literacy Camp is a free summer learning program offered by Jefferson Parish Schools, which is designed to provide students with additional opportunities for accelerated learning and growth during the summer months in a fun learning environment. Summer Bridge program focuses on literacy and supporting students identified by the TS Gold or Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) assessment in need of additional literacy support to achieve grade-level proficiency. Students will receive 30+ hours of literacy interventions consisting of explicit, targeted instruction based on the science of reading along with math instruction in a camp-like setting.

Program Details:

  • Four weeks from June 1st - June 26th (No Classes on June 19th) 
  • Half Day from 7:30 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.
  • Breakfast served at 7:30 a.m.
  • Instruction will commence at 8:00 a.m

Grades: 

  • 3rd-grade below and well below
  • 2nd-grade well below

Instructional Model:

  • In-Person only

Subjects:

  • Students will receive accelerated ELA instruction daily.

Sites/Transportation:

  • Students will be assigned to 1 of 4 hub sites across the district based upon their homeschool’s geographical location.  
  • Students with bus transportation needs will be picked up from and dropped off at designated bus stops within the students’ homeschool’s attendance zone.
  • The Transportation Dept. will notify parents of drop off and pickup times

Dress Code:

  • Students are required to wear their current school uniform daily
