This year, we’re launching our Every Day Matters campaign because student success starts with showing up. When students attend school every day, they open the door to a brighter future.
JP School Reminder: When students are present, they thrive.
Attendance is more than a number; it’s a powerful predictor of student achievement. Here’s what the data shows:
- Students who consistently attend school are more likely to stay on grade level and graduate on time.
- Missing just two days a month adds up to over a year of lost learning by graduation.
- Students who show up regularly are more engaged, more connected, and more confident.

What JP Schools Is Doing
We’re working hard to remove barriers to attendance and ensure every student has the support they need to come to school ready to learn:
- Attendance Intervention Teams: District and school-based teams connecting with families early when absences start to add up.
- School-Based Health Centers (SBHC): Offering medical and mental health services
- Real-Time Data Tools: Using real-time data to act quickly when patterns of chronic absence appear.
- Community-Based Support: Partnering with local nonprofits, faith leaders, and businesses to wrap students and families in care.
- Partnership with Premier Automotive Group: All JP Schools seniors with perfect attendance during the 2025–26 school year will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a brand-new car!
- Professional Development: Training staff to engage with families compassionately and effectively when attendance becomes a challenge.
- Positive Incentives: Celebrating students and classrooms with strong attendance through recognition, rewards, and events.
How to Get Involved: Because Every Day Matters
This campaign isn’t just about schools, it’s about all of us. Families. Neighbors. Employers. Mentors. Coaches. Community members. Here’s how you can help:
Families
Build strong morning routines, schedule appointments outside of school hours, and stay connected to your school community.
Businesses
Avoid hiring students during school hours, and display “Every Day Matters” posters in your windows.
Community Leaders
Encourage attendance in your churches, rec centers, and youth programs. Celebrate students who show up!
Students
Take pride in your presence. Every day you walk through those doors, you’re investing in yourself.
Celebrating Attendance All Year Long
Throughout the year, JP Schools will spotlight attendance champions—from individual students to entire campuses. Stay tuned for:
- Year Round Billboards: Inspiring billboards across Jefferson Parish promoting the importance of showing up every day and how Every Day Matters.
- Social Media Shoutouts: Monthly highlights of schools going above and beyond to build a strong, supportive attendance culture.
- Student Recognition Through Campuses: Certificates, daily shout-outs, bulletin boards, and features in newsletters or on social media to celebrate students meeting or exceeding attendance goals.
- PBIS Campuses Initiatives: Schools will integrate attendance into their Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) programs by awarding points, incentives, and privileges for consistent attendance. This supports a school-wide culture of showing up, staying engaged, and being recognized for it!
