  • Advanced Placement (AP) courses provide students with the opportunity to earn college credits and also expose them to collegiate-level rigor.  These courses help students stand out in the college admissions process because they demonstrate to admissions officers the student's ability to succeed in riogorous courses.

It is our belief that every student at Thomas Jefferson Academy for Advanced Studies should be granted access to these courses.  Therefore, we are committing resources to AP students to hopefully increase their changes for success in their AP classes and on the AP exam.  Consumable AP prep workbooks are purchased for students enrolled in an AP course.  These workbooks are designed to teach students test strategies and format while building a deep understanding of course content knowledge.  In addition, Thomas Jefferson Academy has purchased over $25,000 in new textbooks and computers over the past years in an effort to bring current and relevant resources to our AP classrooms.

These resources are of no cost to the student.  Nevertheless, there is a cost associated with the AP test.  During the 2020-2021 school year, the AP test cost $90.  However, this is subject to change as AP Test prices are not set by Thomas Jefferson Academy.
