Happy New Decade! We have returned excitedly to resume work in what many are calling the new roaring twenties, buoyed by the numbers on our LEAP 2025 scores. We had 100% of our Freshman Academy students enrolled in Algebra I and/or English I earn a Basic or above. Know that we are working in concerted effort with all of our students but especially our freshman to ensure that they are successful academically. Our attendance initiative has continued to be quite successful, and we appreciate students and parents efforts to be on time and in class every day.

In February, students in our Juniors will have the opportunity to take the ACT for free as part of a testing initiative. Interest in taking the exam is high, as this is one of the steps needed for our students who are following the college prep pathway. Juniors who have not yet signed up to take the exam may contact Mr. Olivier, Junior Counselor, or Ms. McCabe, ACT Coordinator, before January 16, 2020.

Report cards were issued on January 9th. Please take a moment to review your child’s report card so that you are aware of their progress.

Lastly, Seniors, the countdown to graduation has begun in earnest! The Class of 2020 Graduation is Saturday, May 16th at the Ponchartrain Center at 3:45 PM. Although it still seems far away, there are fewer than twenty Mondays remaining. You are almost there!

Wishing you a joyous Irish year!

    Ms. Sharon Meggs-Hamilton
