Thomas Jefferson Academy Middle School Athletics Update
Football tryouts will be held January 255th. Students should visit the Football page for important information.
As a reminder regarding tryouts, students will need a current physical on the official LHSAA form and will need to be registered on the TJA Family ID Page for Middle School Athletics. This is important because there is a Jefferson Parish COVID Waiver on the FamilyID site that must be completed before tryouts. FamilyID also allows you to upload your physical as well as your proof of health insurance. Virtual students are allowed to participate. However, they will need to provide their own transportation to practices each day. If you should have any questions, please contact the Athletic Director, Emily Cormier at Emily.Cormier@jpschools.org.
Thomas Jefferson Academy Athletic Department
The TJ Athletic Department offers the following middle school sports:
Basketball (girls and boys)
Soccer (girls and boys)
While there is no Middle School Wrestling or Track, 7th and 8th graders can tryout for the high school sports. If a 7th or 8th grader would like to tryout for a high school sport, they must contact that coach. They cannot play the same sport on the middle and high school teams concurrently.
In order for a student to tryout for an athletic team, they must have a valid physical and medical history form turned in to the Athletics Office. This must be on the official LHSAA Medical History Evaluation form that can be obtained in the front office or you may print the form below.
Once a student makes a team, they will need to register with FamilyID.com (instructions below) and pay a $25 Athletic Fee. This fee is used for general athletics maintenance, end of year awards, and various administrative items purchased throughout the year. Please see the Athletic Director, Coach Emily Cormier, to make your payment or you may pay online at JP School Cash Online.
The Thomas Jefferson Athletic Department requires an online registration process for all athletes. This online registration eliminates many forms that are required for athletic participation.
This year, the district is requiring all athletes and parents to complete a COVID-19 Waiver. This waiver is included on FamilyID.
FamilyID must be completed BEFORE a student can participate in any tryouts, conditioning or practices for any sport.
The website is www.familyid.com
In addition to the online registration, all athletes must have an up to date physical turned in to the athletic office and also pay a yearly, non refundable $25 Athletic Fee. This fee can be paid by cash or check to Coach Cormier (Athletic Director) or on the new JP School Cash Online system.
