Dr. Ajit “AJ” Pethe
Chief of Schools

Dr. Ajit “AJ” Pethe is the Chief of Schools in Jefferson Parish (JP) Schools, serving as the second-in-command within the district. In this role, he oversees a broad array of initiatives aimed at removing barriers to education and ensuring student access to high-quality learning experiences. His responsibilities encompass technology, student exceptionalities, early childhood education, student wellness, and mental health. Pethe played a crucial role in orchestrating the district’s COVID-19 mitigation strategy, facilitating the safe reopening of schools. He has also forged numerous partnerships with leading healthcare organizations and corporations to enhance support for students in JP Schools.

Before his tenure in JP Schools, Pethe was the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment for a neighboring school district. There, he managed curriculum, instruction, professional learning, assessment, instructional technology, and special education.
