Band Program

The band program helps students to develop an understanding and appreciation of music. The program takes students with no previous playing experience to advanced status.

The band program at the middle school level may continue to enhance an understanding and appreciation of music. For most students, this may be their first experience with the band program. Students will participate in the Superintendent’s Band Festival and may be eligible for participation in various Louisiana Music Educators’ Association (LMEA). Many students from the band program also march in Carnival parades and perform for community events.

The band program at the high school level allows students to study theory and analysis, music history, creative activities and aesthetic perception, and performances. Students may take courses for credit in the study of music. Many students have received scholarships to universities for post-secondary music studies.
