Student Internship
The JP Schools communications intern is responsible for assisting senior employees with various communication and strategy-based tasks. Their duties include helping design and create visual content, such as blog posts, graphics and/or videos, creating social media content and monitoring social media analytics, helping plan and work on school related events and website related tasks. Student interns will be responsible for clerical tasks as directed.
Meet the 2025-26 Communications Student Interns!
We are currently accepting applications for the 2026-27 School Year 12th Grade Internship Program from May 7 through May 21. Interviews will be scheduled after all applications have been reviewed.
Students who attend the following schools are eligible to apply.
- West Jefferson High School
- Patrick F. Taylor Science & Technology Academy
- L.W. Higgins High School
- Thomas Jefferson High School for Advanced Studies
- Bonnabel Magnet Academy High School
For questions regarding school eligibility, please reach out directly to your school’s administrators.
Please note in order to be considered for this internship students must be able to commit to the full 2026-2027 school year.
Please find below a list of requirements for the 12th Grade Internship Program:
- Complete an internship application
- Submit (1) letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, school administrator that has worked with you within the 2025-26 school year.
- Submit a copy of your resume
- Be on track for graduation
- Have an acceptable attendance record
- Have an acceptable discipline record
- Have reliable transportation

- Student(s) must have flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
Other important details regarding the 12th Grade Internship Program:
- Students will be scheduled in the internship class and must work 106 hours to receive one (1) Carnegie unit on their transcript.
- Students will receive a grade in the internship class.
- Students must manage their schedules to ensure extracurricular activities do not interfere with their internship work schedules.
