The 128 Partner of the Month
In Jefferson Parish Schools, we have students about 40 hours a week. For all kids to succeed, they need strong community partners for the other 128 hours. Below you will find information about community partners who have been recognized as "128" honorees.

July 2024 "128 Partner of the Month" Spotlight
Greg Miller, Louisiana State Senator- District 19
Congratulations to Louisiana State Senator, Greg Miller, District 19, our July Partner of the Month. Senator Miller has shown remarkable dedication to our district by championing an appropriation for substantial capital projects in JP Schools. His efforts have successfully secured funding for the construction of a new bridge at the Ralph J. Bunche STEM Elementary site. Senator Miller strongly supports our goals and his contributions will have a lasting impact on our students and the community.

April 2024: National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Greater New Orleans Chapter, Inc.
March 2024: JPAS
STEM Nola's mission is to design and deliver learning opportunities, activities, programs, and events throughout the Greater New Orleans Area, including Jefferson Parish Schools. STEM Nola engaged over 3,500 K-8th graders in JP Schools in the year 2023. Students were engaged in hands-on STEM activities during in-person sessions hosted by STEM Nola. Dr. Mackey has always been supportive of our missions, and we are glad to continue working with his team in the future to greater our student's education.
February 2024: STEM Nola

January 2024: Kay & Co
Kay & Co. donated $5,000 to C.T. Janet Elementary to help assist students who are in need of winter coats, jackets, school supplies, and other necessary resources. At the January 10 school board meeting, Kay & Co. made a generous donation to The Lincoln School for the Arts to help with the same necessities, totaling their entire donation to $7,000 for both schools. Thank you again for supporting JP Schools.
December 2023: Johnson's Uniform, Logo Express, Skobel's, and Uniforms by Kajan
Our partners of the month worked closely with families as part of our Uniform Voucher program that took place this summer and fall. Thanks to Johnson's Uniform, Logo Express, Skobel's, and Uniforms by Kajan, we were able to provide uniforms to 1,817 students.
November 2023: Burlington
Thanks to Burlington's partnership with the Adopt-A-Classroom program, T.H. Harris Middle School received a $5,000 donation on the opening day of Burlington's new Metairie store. This donation will go towards supporting Harris' teachers' classroom.
October 2023: Jefferson Financial Credit Union
Jefferson Financial Credit Union has supported Meisler Middle School in its efforts to start the school year strong. Over the summer, Meisler Middle School was under construction with new walls being built, new floors, and a new HVAC system. To help them get ready for the school year, the Jefferson Financial Credit Union and 25 other volunteers cleaned the entire school for the incoming students of the 2023-24 school year. Principal Thomas Chaze states he is beyond grateful for all their hard work.
September 2023: Gulf Wind Technology
JP Schools would like to recognize our 128 September partner of the month, Gulf Wind Technology. Gulf Wind is a technology and engineering business in renewable energy located along the Mississippi River in Avondale. This partnership will offer our high school students internships, apprenticeships, and career development. It’s important that we provide students with multiple pathways for high demand, high wage careers in Jefferson Parish, and this partnership supports that effort.
August 2023: Keesler Credit Union
Last year and this year, Keesler donated supplies and backpacks to all kindergarten students in our district through their backpacks for Bright Futures program. We're very appreciative of the support for our schools and families.
July 2023: Entergy:
Last year Entergy donated over $80,000 worth of studio equipment to our communications team to help upgrade much of their outdated equipment from 2006. By using this equipment, we are able to upgrade our production van to record high-definition content and we will be upgrading our in-house studio with the additional equipment. As you may have seen in this year's graduation videos, this new equipment allows us to continue communicating with our stakeholders but do so in a higher quality and more modern way.
2022-2023 School Year
June 2023: Jefferson Dollars for Scholars
Last month, Jefferson Dollars for Scholars conducted their annual award ceremony and provided students with scholarships for college and student enrichment camps. There are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year and to date, they have exceeded 30 million dollars in their support for students in our parish.
May 2023: Judge Amanda C. Calogero and State Representative Delisha Boyd
They both engaged in conversation with Ms. Gilson and our Superintendent's Student Leadership Council this year and we would like to recognize them for their leadership and support of our students. Judge Calogero is an outstanding partner to JP Schools. Any time that we need her guidance as it relates to our students who will be moving through and out of the Juvenile Court System. She was able to shed some guidance and light on our students on the Superintendent's council and we are very excited to have that partnership with the judges.
March 2023: United Way of Southeast Louisiana
The United Way is a lifelong partner and supports our students, employees, schools, and community. We first interaction we had with United Way was when we started offering the parent technology classes with United Way and the Hispanic Chamber. They gave our parents an opportunity to learn how to work technology in efforts to help their kids. United Way also donated to West Jefferson High School's band to help recover from the tornado destruction raising $5,181.
February 2023: Target
The Target stores on Manhattan and Veterans donated over 30 pallets of school supplies, toys, and holiday decorations. These last few months, we have been distributing these supplies at our Listen and Learn Town Halls and to schools. We appreciate the generosity and support of these stores and their employees. We want to thank Target for being a strong partner for us here in Jefferson Parish.
January 2023: YMCA of Greater New Orleans and Academy Sports
Last month, Academy Sports teamed up with the East Jefferson YMCA to donate 112 brand new children bikes and helmets so that each child enrolled in the lower grades at Bissonet Elementary School would have a new bike for Christmas. This partnership aligns with the YMCA Bike Safety Program which helps educate children on bike safety, conduct community outreach, and provides helmets to children in need.
December 2022: Dawn Busters Kiwanis Club
As a district, we are focused on literacy and ensuring that all students are reading on grade level by the end of 3rd grade. Through their Rewards for Reading program, the Dawn Busters Club encourages our earliest students to enjoy reading and increase their reading comprehension. Seeing students at the Rewards for Reading program dancing, eating pizza, or engaging in conversation about books they have read, is truly moving to witness.
November 2022: American Heart Association
Thanks to the AHA and their sponsors, all of our high school health educators received new CPR Kits for students to receive life-saving training. By using these kits our students and staff can build confidence in CPR training and improve survival rates by learning the skills to be life savers in their community. In addition to the recent donation, we are also partnering with AHA to increase awareness around heart health through our school and district by providing additional resources to the community.
October 2022: Pastor Torrey Fingal and The Empowerment Church
Pastor Torrey Fingal, his wife, and The Empowerment Church adopted West Jefferson High School in November 2021. They adopted Helen Cox High School this school year providing meals and fellowship on a monthly basis to both schools. We appreciate their continuous support of our students and are proud to congratulate them for our October 128 Partner of the Month
September 2022: Citizens National Bank
Citizens National Bank invited Jefferson Parish Schools talented art students to display their artwork at the bank. For the past summer, the artwork of 93 talented art students from over 15 different schools has been on display at the bank. In July, a reception was held to recognize the students for their outstanding work. Citizens National Bank also donated prizes for best-in exhibit. Bank officials and community members scored the students' artwork based on a rubric to award gift cards to the winners. In addition, the talented visual art department at the schools received a gift card for supplies to keep inspiring their young talent.
