Gretna Middle Auction

In order to give all alumni equal access to the memorabilia, the decision was made to create an auction. This choice will provide opportunities for alumni who reside outside of Jefferson Parish to participate.

The District will create a scholarship(s) for the benefit of a closing school student. Criteria for the scholarship(s) will be determined at a later date.

These auctions will not be sold alongside other District items.

Alumni inquired about the schools’ memorabilia after the 2023-24 school consolidation announcement. The district originally shared, “All memorabilia items from closing schools will be placed for auction through the District’s standard auction process on publicsurplus.com. The standard notification process will be followed plus additional postings to ensure that the community is aware of the auctioning occurring.” on multiple platforms, including the FAQ regarding school consolidations.

Some items noted are trophies, championship plaques, and decor.

Acceptable forms of payment are wire transfer or credit card. Cash, checks, and money orders will NOT be accepted. PayMac handles all payments for Jefferson Parish Schools.

A bid deposit may be required.

Full payment for an awarded item must be received within 5 business days after notice of award.

The successful bidder will be responsible for pick-up of awarded items by appointment only—call (504) 349-7728 to schedule a pickup. Pickup times are 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. You will have 3 days to pick up your item(s). On the 4th day, the item(s) will be canceled, and the bidder blocked as per terms and conditions. We do NOT prepare, package, or ship, the bidder is solely responsible for obtaining items.

A sales tax may be charged. The tax rate will be calculated at the time of bidding. When the sales tax is included, the buyer shall add and include the sales tax amount when making payment.

A Buyers Premium of 10.5% will be added to the final sale price with a $1 minimum charge per auction for payment collections. This premium if applicable will be visible during the bidding process and added to the total bid.

All sales are final. Public Surplus will notify the buyer of receipt of payment via email.
