Strong Schools = Strong Community
On Saturday, December 7, 2024, residents of Jefferson Parish will be asked to vote on a new school millage* to fund teacher and staff pay raises in Jefferson Parish Schools. The funds generated will allow JP Schools to recruit and retain more quality teachers and staff for our school system.
The December 7 vote provides for 10 years of critical funding our schools need to thrive.
Strong schools improve the quality of life** for everyone by creating an educated workforce and stronger economy, increasing property values, and contributing to safer neighborhoods. This is a critical vote for the future of Jefferson Parish. Everybody wins when we have the best teachers.
*Shall School District No. 1 of the Parish of Jefferson, State of Louisiana (the "District"), levy a 10.89 mills tax on all property subject to taxation within the District (an estimated $45,800,000 reasonably expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the tax for an entire year), for a period of 10 years, beginning with the year 2025 and ending with the year 2034, for the purpose of giving additional support to the public elementary and secondary schools in the District by providing funds for the payment of salaries and benefits of teachers and other school employees?
