District 9: Sandy Denapolis-Bosarge
Sandy Denapolis-Bosarge graduated Summa Cum Laude (3rd in class) from Dominican High School, where she was a member of many clubs, including National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the cheerleading squad. She received the Decennial Academic Scholarship to the University of New Orleans, where she was a UNO Cheerleader, a member of the Homecoming Court, and served as President of Alpha Lambda Delta Freshmen Women’s Honor Society. She had the distinction of being in the top five percent of the Junior class in the College of Sciences and was inducted into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
Denapolis-Bosarge received her nursing degree Cum Laude (5th in class) from the Louisiana State University School of Allied Health. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Hotel Dieu Hospital in New Orleans, and then for the Medical Center of New Orleans aka Charity Hospital until Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Since then, Denapolis-Bosarge has been on disability retirement for Multiple Sclerosis.
In 2010, Denapolis-Bosarge was elected to the Jefferson Parish School Board as the District IX representative, and was re-elected to her second term in 2014. Her committee assignments have included Chairman of the Academic Affairs Committee, and member of the Insurance, Legislative, and Facilities Committees. Denapolis-Bosarge is happily married to Dexter Bosarge and is the proud mother of two daughters, and even prouder grandmother of two beautiful granddaughters.
