What We Do

  • The Jefferson Parish Schools Food Services Department is responsible for preparing and serving meals offered to students and staff throughout the district. Breakfast and lunch are offered in all schools. Students are offered a variety of healthy meals daily. Menus are planned following United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) guidelines with an emphasis on the use of whole grains, fruits and vegetables.

    Programs & Services

    USDA has extended free meals for ALL students through the 2020-2021 school year.  However, families are still encouraged to complete a free and reduced meal application. These applications support our meal program and help determine additional school funding. Questions regarding meal eligibilities or free and reduced meal applications should be made to Daytona Tucker, Applications Manager, at 504-349-7687.

    Virtual Jefferson Meals

    Students participating in Virtual Jefferson have the option to pick up a grab and go breakfast and lunch meal from the school in which they are enrolled on Tuesdays and Thursdays at school specific times.  Meals picked up on Tuesday will be for Wednesday and Thursday and meals picked up on Thursdays will be for Friday, Monday, and Tuesday.  Meals are provided only for the days that students are scheduled for virtual learning.  Grab and go meals will consist of frozen, refrigerated, and shelf-stable items that meet all required meal pattern requirements. Frozen items will need to be kept frozen until ready to be eaten and heated to an internal temperature of at least 165 degrees before consumption.    

    Meals will need to be pre-ordered for pick-up from the student's enrolled school by Friday prior to the scheduled pick-up date.  To pre-order meals, click here.

    Students are encourages to be present at the time of meal pickup.  If the student is unable to be present then a Parent Pickup Form will need to be completed. 

    Hyrbid Meals

    Students attending school on a rotating schedule have the option to take home a grab and go breakfast and lunch meal on the day they are participating in face-to-face learning to be eaten on the days they are schedule for virtual learning. These meals do not require pre-order.
