Harahan’s Uniform Policy

Shirts

Shirts must be worn tucked in at the waist so that the belt or waistband of the pants/skirt/shorts is visible at all times. Only solid white, navy blue, or black are allowed to be worn under the uniform shirt.

Pants

Pants must be worn at the waist, belted, and must fit the waist comfortably. Pants should fit appropriately: No tight-fitting or loose-fitting pants are allowed. No leggings or sweatpants are allowed.

Shorts/Skorts

The minimum length for shorts is three inches above the knee. Shorts must be worn at the waist, belted, and must fit the waist comfortably. Shorts should fit appropriately: No tight-fitting or loose-fitting shorts. No bike shorts or athletic shorts are allowed. Leggings may not be worn under shorts or skorts.

Skirts

Plaid uniform skirts for 6^th-8^th girls must be purchased from one of the uniform suppliers. All skirts must be worn no shorter than three inches above the knee. Skirts must be hemmed and the waistband must be visible at all times around the entire waist and cannot be rolled.

Belts

Belts must be solid navy blue, black, or brown. The length of the belt must be tucked into the belt loops and must be visible at all times. Belt buckles must be plain.

Shoes and Socks

Solid colored navy blue, black, or white socks must be worn with all shoes. Socks must be ankle length or crew length and visible at all times. Only tennis shoes must be worn. Tennis shoes with laces must be entirely laced and properly tied.

Sweatshirts/Jackets/Coats

Sweaters, Jackets, and Sweatshirts with the School Logo are available at the uniform suppliers. Any HOODLESS sweater, jacket or sweatshirt that is black, red, navy, white, or grey can be worn during cold weather. No hoods are allowed. Non-uniform outerwear must be removed after entering the classroom.

Book Bags

No rolling book bags are allowed.

6^th-8^th grade students' book bags must be clear or mesh ONLY. Small purses or lunch bags are allowed. No cloth or fabric book bags, tote bags, or backpacks are allowed for 6^th-8^th graders.

Grooming

Students should have good personal hygiene: clean combed natural colored hair, clean teeth, clean body, and clean clothing.

Jewelry

Students may not wear body piercings except for pierced earrings worn in the ear lobe. Earrings should be a reasonable size.

Cold Weather

Students may wear a larger jacket of any color outside only. Girls may wear solid red, white, navy blue, or black leggings under school uniform skirts during cold weather.

Hats

 Hats of any kind may not be worn during the school day. This includes caps, bandanas, curlers, visors, sweatbands, bonnets, scarves, earmuffs, sunglasses, hoods, etc.
